What should you expect?

Our Sherry and Tapas Tour is a 3-4 hour tour experience visiting 4 different bars in a small group tour with a maximum of 8 people. My name is Carlos, and I will meet you at the Plaza de España fountain in Vejer to begin your journey. I am a local foodie, love local food! I am knowledgeable and passionate about local food and wine and am wine-certified (WSET Level 2).

You will learn the process to how to produce Sherry, all the different types of sherry, how to do a wine tasting, local cuisine and explain about wine and food pairings. Expect to hear all about local traditions and cultural anecdotes through each of the tapas, as the food in each tapa/ración will tell a different story, and it will tell part of the culture and history of Vejer from the Phoenicians and Romans to the Moors and Christians. You will also learn about local traditions and culture when stopping at interesting points of the village between tapa bars.

What is included?

All 5 sherries, and 5 tapas are included. Taste a variety of tapas such as anchovies in vinegar, Iberian ham, bull’s meat, salmorejo or bluefin tuna. Some foods will depend on the season, and finish with moorish influenced dish like desserts or eggplant with honey. Tapas will be paired with a sherry, or wine, alternative beverages can be provided for children and non-wine drinkers.

One shining star of the region is Sherry! Cádiz province is the only place in the entire world where the D.O. (Denomination of Origin) allows to make this type of wine . There are so many varieties to taste from the pale, delicate Manzanilla to the sweet, dark and bold Pedro Ximenez.

With our Sherry and Tapas tour you will sample many types of sherries. Your knowledgeable guide will explain all about the process to make this wine and how to pair them with food.

Luckily, we are in an incredibly sunny region where rainy days are infrequent (July averages only 1mm of rain in the whole month!).

However, if there is heavy rain on the day your tour is, you can choose a couple of options. Either continue with the tour and we will do the tastings inside, or you have the option of rescheduling to another day or time where there is availability. We will contact you in the event your tour will be changed.
