Best places where to eat in Seville city

Seville is an amazing place for foodies and anyone who loves food. Wherever you go, you will find amazing food quality made with local produce. In this blog I will be giving my food recommendations of where to eat in Sevilla.

It is linked to all the fresh produce in the region and all over Andalusia. Seville is the capital of Andalusia and as such it has all the best foods of each province.  You will find fresh fish and seafood of Sanlucar de Barrameda, cheese from Grazalema natural park, bluefin tuna, Iberian ham from Jabugo or Montilla Moriles, and fresh seasonal veggies. Moreover, Seville it is an incredible historical city to enjoy while walking.

There are so many great options to choose from, and sometimes it is hard to choose where to eat in Seville. Hopefully this list will help you decide, from more traditional places to high-end restaurants.

Traditional tapas in Seville city

In this section I will recommend traditional places where you can eat great local food with the local wine, sherry wine.
I will start with my favourite local taverns and tabancos.

Casa Morales

The oldest winery in Seville that ages its own wine is still open. Casa Morales opened its doors in 1850 and it is very near the cathedral of Seville. They have a wide range of traditional dishes from all over Andalusia and even Extremadura. If you want to sit down you must arrive a couple minutes before it opens, it is shocking how fast fills up with food tour agencies.
Everything is written in chalk and you can choose tapas of many things so you can taste different things. Taste lomo en manteca, riñones al jerez,  Iberian ham, etc. And the best pairing is always with sherry.

Bodeguita Romero

Bodeguita Romero opened in 1939 and it changed locations a couple of times until it settled where it is now. It is also in the downtown, not far from the cathedral too.
Similarly to Casa Morales you want to taste some of the traditional tapas. Taste their pork cheeks, spinach with chickpeas, oxtail, artichokes with Iberian ham, etc.

More modern tapa restaurants or mid range restaurants in Seville (<30€pp)

In this section I will be talking about restaurants that focus on the local produce with good presentation and some fusion, and good wine list. The cost would be for an appetizer to share, a main dish and a dessert.

El Cairo restaurant

El Cairo is a nice restaurant where local people go too and has very fresh meat and vegetables. The ambience is a bit rustic and you can choose to eat a tapa at the bar or sit down at their restaurant.

Tradevo Nervión restaurant

Seasonal and local food. All the products, including the fish arrives every morning fresh from the port of Conil or Isla Cristina. It is nice to get good fish in inland Andalusia as typically Seville focuses more on pork.

Puratasca restaurant

In the neighbourhood of Triana you can enjoy a beautiul fish or fresh oysters in this local bar in the street. It looks simple with good value but also has very high end products; from oysters, national caviar, cured bluefin tuna, to semicured Iberian pork and more.

Espacio Eslava

Espacio Eslava is a very nice restaurant where you can find some traditional tapas as well as fusion Spanish food. It has two sections, one for tapas and one to sit down and enjoy full plates in the restaurant. You can’t book at the tapas section so go very early as it fills up with locals and tourists. It is a very well known place and it has delicious food although it is a bit further away from the centre.

Spanish gourmet cuisine in Seville (>30€pp)

In this section I am going to put high-end restaurants in Seville city. These restaurants have the best value for high quality or Michelin stars.

Restaurante el Pintón

A very beautiful restaurant near the Alcazar of Seville. It is a great place to enjoy some nice local meats, rices, as well as some fresh fish. Their food is traditional but using some modern techniques, although they also do some fusion food. They have two patios, the old one based on an old Andalusian patio and a newer one designed by Aníbal González who also designed the plaza de España of Seville.

Malandro restaurant

I have not been to this restaurant sadly and the reviews look like it is a normal restaurant, however, I have had a couple of my guests that have eaten here and told me to recommend it. Apparently their meat and views from their terrace is a very nice confortable place to enjoy a dinner.

Augurio restaurant Sevilla

This restaurant opened first in Huelva, then the owners from Seville decided to change its location and come back to Seville in 2024. Because of the origin of this restaurant it is a good place to enjoy the bluefin tuna in this region. In contrast with what many people know Spain is a great place to enjoy bluefin tuna. Even the Japanese businesses come and take much of the quota back to Japan. 50% of the migration of Atlantic bluefin tuna crosses the Strait of Gibraltar to lay their eggs in the Mediterranean. Because it is so narrow it is a great place to set up a traditional type of trap called Almadraba to capture them without stressing them and therefore enjoying some of the best bluefin tuna in the world. If you want to learn more about this contact me to organise a tour.

You can also enjoy some local meats and fresh seafood.

Contenedor restaurant

They base their cuisine on organic, garden-fresh, and locally sourced products. They are committed to only offer the best from our land, focusing on quality, freshness, and production methods, creating dishes that respect their natural flavors to the fullest. Each plate is designed for guests to enjoy the ritual of fine dining in the Spanish way, without rushing.
